Nothing like a Wilted Salad to Make Your Day

Tim Hume writes for CNN and Vice, amongst other periodicals. He recently published a pop culture news piece on the fact that David Icke was banned from 26 countries in Europe. While I am not a fan of Mr. Icke’s ideas, any student of theology and history knows there is a lot weird stuff going down. An honest inquiry must be made, and let the chips fall where they may.

It is perfectly fine for the EU to ban Mr. Icke, as it will only be a temporary ban until the EU collapses under the weight of its malignant hubris and stupidity.

And here is my letter to Mr. Hume:

Tim, as a former journalist, I always loved it when my colleagues used expressions like “experts say.” What would the faculty at Columbia J school think of “experts say”?

I read your hilarious piece on David Icke, funny both because David is so convinced of his offbeat ideas and what a jumbled mess of incomplete research your piece contained.  It is also astonishing at this late date to read the words of one with a masters degree in the science of communication actually state:

“They say it’s an ideology that’s found a growing audience since the start of the pandemic, which has led to an explosion in conspiracy beliefs about supposed global elites seeking to bring about a New World Order, most notably the QAnon conspiracy theory, which holds that elites are torturing children to harvest a chemical called adrenochrome from their blood.

“They” of course refers to your invisible, august panel of flexible and dynamic experts who took the time to take you under their wing. If you had preserved a small cluster of functioning neurons, you might have discovered that there are reams of evidence over decades of a conspiracy by a small group of ruthless men who “intend to enslave every man, woman, and child in this country.” (JFK, NY Press Club).  Consider this letter “the memo.”

• The last three years confirm every inch of it.

• It is and has been the plan for over a century.

• You are living in it right now.

• David Rockefeller, admitted to it in his biography.

• George HW Bush announced it at the State of the Union in 1992.  

• Klaus Schwab, who looks like the spitting image of “Dr. Evil” or “Blofeld,” a Rothschild himself and scion of Nazi factory owners in Bavaria, actually told the WEF members that they had the power to “impose their will”… in May 2022.

But of course, you took the bait and connected Icke with Adrenochrome and Pizzagate. I spent a few weeks researching that topic eight years ago and had to stop because the apparent reality exposed in multiple places was consistently too frightening.

One of the most important things I learned studying at Columbia University GSJ was to take the subjects of my articles very seriously and with compassion. One professor got extremely mad at me during the class because I made light fun of people with porphyria, writing a callous article about a modern day wolf-man.

I thought I was being witty but I received a blistering response. And I deserved it. Just like right now you deserve to be criticized because you have not implemented the skills you were taught at the school you spent so much money to attend and because you didn’t implement the principles that give those skills value.   

I am not a fan of David Icke, he’s just too out there for me, but lumping everyone together and lampooning your strawmen is what superficial, crappy reporters do. There’s no question in my mind that you can do more hardwork at the beginning and more meaningful work at the end.
